GO-AdventureSports Teambuilding Activity of the Month

Here's an Activity You Can Try...
From time to time we highlight a teambuilding game or problem-solving initiative that has been particularly successful, popular, or just plain fun. These activities are easy to set up, take very little skill or experience, and require little or no specialized equipment. If you try an activity and you like it, let us know! And if you would like to learn what it takes to be a teambuilding facilitator, check out our Training page on the website...

Good Luck!

Human Orchestra

"Try this great large group energizer. I have run it with corporations, students and others, and I find it very worthwhile..."

Level of Challenge: Just plain Fun Collaboration
Equipment: None
Instructions:

  • Split group into 4 teams, each about the same size as the other. Be sure the groups are separate from eachother, but are within a relatively close proximity.
  • Frame-up: Each team is responsible for a particular word, and every member of that team is responsible for making that particular word.
  • When the 'conductor' points to a team, everyone on the team yells out their word.

    Team 1 - "Fiddle"
    Team 2 - "Faddle"
    Team 3 - "Funky"
    Team 4 - "Feet"

  • When the "conductor" points to each team, they yell out their word - when you put it all together, it sounds like a Human Orchestra!

There are many variations of this theme - different words can be substituted (I have tried 'woosh,' 'rumble,' 'blip-blip-blip,' 'woo'), you can "play" your word at different volumes and tempos, etc... See what you can come up with!

And let me know if you come up with a variation that really gets great results!
